Complete’s Top 3 Estate Agents
It’s one of the first decisions you make in the house selling process – who am I going to trust to sell my house? Here are some of our top tips!
-It’s always worth getting recommendations from people you know – ask your friendly, helpful mortgage advisor?
-Make sure your estate agent has experience selling properties like yours, some specialise in certain types of properties or might not understand the complexities of selling a high rise flat or a shared ownership property for example. The best way to measure this is to see if they already have existing properties similar to yours up for sale.
-Choose how many estate agents you want to work for you. Do you want to have a sole or multiple agreement?
-You can also secret shop, compare how the estate agents list their properties online, zoopla, rightmove – are the pictures clear, particulars descriptive? If you really want to then go into your local branches and see how they treat you as a walk in customer interested in buying a property.
-Which estate agents SOLD boards have you seen on houses in your local area?
-How much do the estate agents you’ve been looking at charge?
Narrow it down to a shortlist and ask those estate agents to come round and do a valuation for you. Past this you’re ready to make an informed decision on which estate agent(s) represent you.
